Project : Building a house, from the blueprint to the finished house

After taking a closer look at some blueprints we read a picture-book called „Auf der Baustelle“ („At the construction site“) before we tried to build some little houses (Lego) ourselves.

Each child created its very own miniature house made of cardboard.

On 27th June 2009 we celebrated our 10th anniversary. Some of the very first children who attended the kindergarten made a speech. Even the mayor of Baden-Baden, Mr. Gerstner, was there and said a few greeting words.
The educators, parents and children performed a play called “The Prince’s Theatre” based on the novel of “The Little Prince” by Saint-Exupéry. Here are some photos.
Near the end of the party, we let 100 balloons fly away and inaugurated the new signboard of our kindergarten. It was a lovely celebration.

Easter in Baden-Baden

In Germany, in the kindergarten „Le petit prince“, the Easter bunny comes every year to bring a little nest to the children. This year we celebrated Easter a little differently. The children built a large nest out of sticks in the forest. Some days later, they hiked to the nest that they had made and actually found some Easter eggs, little rabbits and chicks, all made of chocolate, as well as other goodies.
Happily loaded with their treasures, they returned to the kindergarten, where Nikolaj’s father had prepared a huge buffet with hard-boiled eggs, tomatoes, cucumbers, bread and other delicacies. This is how we celebrated Easter this year.

Excursion to Demeterhof (farm)

We looked, in vain, for animals in our region in winter. We walked through the streets, searched the woods and the parks – nothing! We only discovered an earthworm and some birds during our walks. This is the reason why we took the bus to the Demeterhof (farm) in Weitenung. Under pouring rain we spotted some brown sheep there, some of them outdoors and some in the stables. We learned about the way of life of the sheep and their eating habits. We were also able to see some guinea pigs and goldfish. Finally, we bought some vegetables in the farm shop to cook a soup at the kindergarten. We also took the vegetables from the story “Les bons amis”: carrots, turnip, red cabbage and parsley. In the greenhouse, located near the shop, we were allowed to have breakfast and were given some delicious organic biscuits. All in all, it was a successful excursion.

Martenitsa

We find this custom very nice. So each child in the kindergarten made his own Martenitsa and put it on his hand till we saw a bloomy bush. Definitly we saw some bloomy bushes in our gardens, so now spring is coming quickly in Germany.
